Alongside my usual documentary-style photography of the ‘Eska: Are You Here‘ Artistic Director residency from Brighter Sound, I also took some footage to create the following cinemagraphs (featuring the hugely talented Tal Janes, Tomas Pocinho, Marcus Joseph and Joy Ellis).
Last month Brighter Sound curated the 8th residency in their always-amazing Artistic Director series. This time the residency was lead by multi-talented, Mercury-award nominee Eska alongside Cardboard Citizens founder and Director, Adrian Jackson.
14 emerging musicians, performers and visual artists collaborated over the course of 4 days to create a one off performance at Manchester’s Band On The Wall, entitled ‘Are You Here’.
I was asked to document some of the creative process and rehearsals as well as the incredible final performance (which included one of the most joyful and energetic encores I’ve ever witnessed).

A few days after the horrific attack at the Manchester arena, where 22 people lost their lives and many more were injured, thousands of people came together in St Ann’s square, to lay flowers and tributes, and to hold a minute’s silence for those who died in the tragedy.
I’ve never been so proud of my city as I have in these past few weeks following the attack. The unity, kindness and compassion that I’ve seen from my fellow Mancunians has been incredible. Our wonderful city has come together to support each other, pay tribute to the victims, raise money for those affected, and to unify against hate and fear.

Earlier this year I took a short trip down to Cornwall, one of the prettiest counties in Britain. It’s also one of the least built-up regions in the UK so it was a great opportunity for some landscape shots and astrophotography.
